Rate of pay: Exceeds National Minimum Wage, exact rate dependant on experience.
Hours: Casual as required, hours available to suit candidate.

The Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways are a seven day a week operation. Evening and weekend working will be required in this position.

The Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways are two heritage railways in North Wales. Spooner’s Grill, Cafe and Bar is at the centre of our operations.

We are looking for a hardworking, honest individual to join our dedicated team of bar staff working on a very busy bar in Porthmadog. Key duties will include serving customers, handling money and clearing tables. Experience working a busy bar is preferred but not essential, as training will be given to the right candidate. Candidates must be able to work evenings and weekends.

Core Skills:

• Communication skills are essential
• The ability to work cleanly and tidily is required
• A basic knowledge and understanding of food and kitchen hygiene is desirable
• The ability to speak Welsh is desirable but not essential
• Knowledge of locations on the Railways and their use by visitors is desirable

On Train Services Department

On Train Steward

Fixed Term Vacancy with immediate start for approx. 12 weeks.
Rate of pay: National Minimum / Living Wage for age.
Hours: Casual as required.

The Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways are a seven day a week operation. Weekend working will be required in this position, evening working may be required on occasion.

The Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways are two heritage railway in North Wales.

We are looking for an On Train Steward to join our team serving light refreshments and selling guide books on board our trains. The position will be based at Porthmadog and at Dinas, near Caernarfon, and the successful applicant may be rostered on both the Ffestiniog Railway and the Welsh Highland Railway. This is a customer facing role so the applicant should enjoy meeting and helping our passengers and be eager to make sure their visit is a pleasant one.

Core Skills:

• Must be numerate
• ‘Front of House’ position so must have good communication skills
• Smart appearance conforming to uniform requirements is essential
• A basic knowledge and understanding of food hygiene would be an advantage
• The ability to speak Welsh is desirable but not essential
• Knowledge of locations on the Railways and their use by visitors is desirable
