Doctors at large!

The weekend of 22/23 September saw a group of doctors from the Railway’s Medical Services Team undertake a Slate Shunt experience in Minffordd Yard, under the watchful eyes and direction of the Lilla Group.

Blessed with (reasonably) good weather and four locos – Lilla, Hugh Napier, Prince and Moelwyn – after initial briefings and footplate tuition, the doctors undertook a variety of challenges and tasks.  No Slate Shunt would be complete without hauling a rake of slate wagons up the Coal Road – an exciting and memorable challenge, particularly in the rain. The weekend was rounded off with real shunting, with the doctors helping to extract various items of rolling stock from the Yard, in preparation for the Victorian Weekend.

Thanks to all involved, both in the Yard and behind the scenes, for making it such a successful event.
