Coronavirus Advice for Staff as of 6th March 2020

We cannot fail to be aware of the corona virus issue that faces us at the moment. As things currently stand there is a very low risk to us as we go about our day to day activities.

However, I would like to ask that everyone heeds the government advice about being careful about hand washing. Our customers will want to be confident that we care.  Travelling on our railway is a leisure activity, not essential travel so we do not want to give our customers reasons not to travel. By being seen to taking care to keep surfaces clean and provide hand sanitiser we do just that. Can I ask you all to respect these steps and be supportive of these actions. The most effective disinfectant sprays, wipes and hand gels will be distributed around the railway for use with appropriate direction. The cafes will use their own products suitable for use with food.

We will keep a close eye on the situation and update you if there are further developments. As a company we do not have any travel restrictions at present beyond following government advice. If you have travelled to affected areas, we would appreciate if you would ensure that you take advice from the FCO on self-isolation before coming to work. Whilst most of our paid staff are infrequent travellers our volunteers frequently travel far and wide. We ask that those who have been abroad to take particular care to follow the FCO government advice following overseas travel.

At this stage we cannot predict how our business will be affected but at present we note that with many people being cautious about overseas travel we expect to see more visitors here in North Wales in the early part of our operating season. We will be continuing to promote the railways as normal and also our events unless the situation changes and we are advised otherwise.
