Booking Office Assistant:
We are looking for a Booking Office Assistant to assist with the day to day running of our busy Booking Office in Porthmadog.
Seasonal vacancy to start a.s.a.p, finishing 16th September 2018, dates flexible for the right candidate
Rate of pay meets National Minimum Wage for age
40 hours per week, any 5 days out of 7 as rostered, weekend and Bank Holiday working will be required.
Key Duties:
• Sell tickets over the counter
• Answer telephone, email and counter enquiries and assist with passenger queries
• Take advance bookings by telephone and process bookings including allocation of First Class seat reservations
• Take group bookings by telephone and process bookings
• Assist at Special Events and Functions as required
Core Skills:
• Must be numerate, literate and have good computer skills
• ‘Front of House’ position so good communication skills and a cheerful disposition are essential
• Smart appearance following dress code
• The ability to speak Welsh is desirable
• Knowledge of locations on the Railways and their use by visitors is desirable

Marking and Commercial Assistant:
We are looking for a Marketing & Commercial Assistant to assist our Marketing Department based in Porthmadog.
Seasonal vacancy to start a.s.a.p, finishing 16th September 2018, dates flexible for the right candidate
Rate of pay meets National Minimum Wage for age
40 hours per week, any 5 days out of 7 as rostered, weekend and Bank Holiday working will be required.
Key Duties:
• Assist the Marketing department with general duties including the internal and external promotion of the railways and events, writing articles, editorial and press releases, booking adverts and distribution of marketing material
• Assist with postings on social media including Twitter and Facebook
• Assist with organising F&WHR presence at exhibitions and events throughout the UK
• Assist with the promotion of Summer Activities on the railways
• Assist with special functions and special events as required
Core Skills:
• Must be numerate, literate and have good computer skills
• Good communication skills and a cheerful disposition are essential
• Smart appearance following dress code
• A full driving licence valid in the UK and access to a vehicle are required for this position
• The ability to speak Welsh is desirable
• Knowledge of locations on the Railways and their use by visitors is desirable
• Knowledge of the local tourism industry would be an advantage

Kitchen Assistant:
Fixed Term Vacancy to 4th November 2018.
Rate of pay: National Minimum / Living Wage for age.
Hours: 30 to 40 hours per week, any 5 days out of 7 as rostered.
The Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways are a seven day a week operation and weekend and evening working will be required in this position.
The Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways is recruiting a Kitchen Assistant for Spooner’s Grill, Café and Bar.
We required a confident and able person to assist the duty chef in the preparation and production of meals to order in our busy kitchen. Kitchen experience and a hygiene certificate would be useful, but are not necessary as full training will be given to the right candidate. This is a full-time fixed-term position until 4th November 2018. Hours are rostered any 5 days out of 7 and include day and evening shifts. There are no split shifts. The job would suit someone who would like to improve their kitchen skills, who is ready to learn and who would like to be part of our vibrant and busy team.
Core Skills:
• Good communication skills are required
• The ability to work cleanly and tidily is required
• A basic knowledge and understanding of food and kitchen hygiene would be an advantage
• A Food Safety qualification is desirable however formal training can be provided if required
• The ability to speak Welsh is desirable but not essential
• Knowledge of locations on the Railways and their use by visitors is desirable
