Martin Neeves
As many of you will probably already know, Martin Neeves passed away on Monday September 10th at Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor, aged 61. He has been battling with cancer for some months. Surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy all proved ultimately to be unsuccessful.
Martin had enjoyed a varied career. He had worked for the railway at several different periods. Initially as a teenager he worked for the S&T Department alongside John Harrison, and following that had a spell working on buffet cars. More recently he worked for the operating department as a guard, signalman and controller during the season and in the carriager works at Boston Lodge during the winter periods.
He had also worked for British Rail as a guard on the Southern Region, done a spell at the Conwy Valley Railway Museum at Betws y Coed, as well a working as a projectionist and for theatre companies in London. At one time Martin also owned a 7.25 inch gauge Tinkerbell loco called Petunia.
Details of funeral arrangements will follow when they are known for anyone who would like to pay their last respects.
