2020 – Moving the Railways Forwards – UPDATE
The first of a series of information and consultation events took place on Saturday 8th February at Grappenhall, Warrington. Around 20 people gathered to hear Paul Lewin present an overview of the National Lottery Heritage Fund [NLHF] supported project to restore, renew, and repurpose many of the heritage buildings at Boston Lodge. Paul outlined the £4million plan to address the restoration or renewal and re-use of the many pre 1870 buildings in the yard and the commitment made by the NLHF to a Stage 1 agreement to support the plan. The railways now have just under a year to develop the proposals into a Stage 2 Plan for submission. If successful at that stage the pledged money will then be released and work can then commence on this ambitious project, supported by the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railway Trust and the Ffestiniog Railway Society. Clare Britton and Osian then introduced the work they had been doing on marketing the railway, particularly through e-marketing and the re-developed website.
