Train services suspended until Spring 2021
The following announcement is intended to provide as much clarity as possible during these uncertain times and to thank all associated with our Railway for your incredible support this year.
This week, the Welsh Government announced a new set of regulations which will particularly affect the hospitality sector whilst warning of a new rise in Covid cases across Wales.
As a result of these new regulations, many local hospitality businesses are planning to close, therefore with this and the safety of all our customers, staff and supporters in mind, we will unfortunately be concluding commercial train services for the year. We had hoped to run a limited festive service over the Christmas period, however this has now been reconsidered.
There will be a limited number of member only trains along the Ffestiniog Railway during the festive period, details of which will be announced at a later date.
Please note, Harbour Station shop will remain open at present and Tearooms at Tan-y-Bwlch Station will reopen over the festive period, with opening times to be announced soon.
All other services and facilities along the Railway will remain closed.
Whilst it is difficult to provide any further clarity at this moment in time, we hope to recommence services and reopen our other facilities in Spring 2021.
This has been a very difficult decision and not one we have taken lightly.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our customers, staff, volunteers, members and supporters who have both supported our cause and worked tirelessly throughout this year to keep our Railway steaming. Whilst it’s been a year full of difficulties and challenges your support and generosity has epitomised all that is great about our Railway.
The upcoming months will undoubtedly be clouded by much of the uncertainty which has overshadowed us for large parts of 2020. Yet, your phenomenal support throughout this period has given us renewed encouragement that 2021 will be a brighter year for our Railway.
Thank you all and stay safe.
