Blaenau Ffestiniog Station ready for “Back To Blaenau” service
We would like to offer a grateful thanks to our dedicated team of volunteers and staff who have been busy renovating our Blaenau Ffestiniog Station.
The team have been working hard to get the station ready in time for the return of steam trains later this month with our ‘Back to Blaenau’ service.
An array of materials which were already in stock were used in the renovation project to keep costs low and thanks to their fantastic work, the station now looks as good as new.
The work carried out by all our volunteers and staff on this project and others across the railway is massively appreciated and plays an important role in keeping the railway steaming!
Our ‘Back to Blaenau’ service will run the full length of the Ffestiniog Railway from Porthmadog to Blaenau Ffestiniog, with a break to enable passengers to explore ‘the town that roofed the world’. A chance to discover its impressive slate sculptures, poetry band trail and selection of privately run shops, cafes and pubs. The train will then return through the Vale of Ffestiniog to the harborside at Porthmadog, following the route of slate trains from quarry to coast.
We are very excited to be offering a service along the whole line of the Ffestiniog Railway and are pleased to return to Blaenau Ffestiniog. Nearly forty years ago, trains proudly steamed back into Blaenau Ffestiniog and now we are doing it again for the first time in over 18 months.
The ‘Back to Blaenau’ service will run Tuesday to Thursday from the 27th of July.
