2020 is not turning out the way we would ever have

2020 is not turning out the way we would ever have expected - and it is causing us to continually review our plans for train services and events. As a result, we have decided that it is impossible for us to run our Victorian Vintage Weekend in the style we have all become used to - so, we are cancelling the event...

Instead, we are replacing it with a simpler, more Covid-aware 'Bygones Weekend’. This will feature Heritage trains, passenger and goods - with seats on all trains being pre-booked in the same fashion as our current service trains to Tan-y-Bwlch...

Please Note: this will not be a costumed event, there will be no sideshows / stalls, strict Covid-19 compliant measures will be in place (please bring your face masks etc), access to main stations will be limited to ticket holders - but we will be doing our very best to lay on a weekend that maximises the enjoyment of our railway's rich heritage...

Final details are being worked out at the present moment, so please bear with us for a few more days. We will post further information on Facebook and our website as soon as possible, so keep your eyes peeled to find out how we intend to bring the past to life, 2020 fashion..!

We've had a very busy few weeks over the summer, with virtually every train on the Welsh Highland Railway being fully booked. However, with the main holiday season over, this is now an ideal time to enjoy a leisurely, scenic trip through the mountains to the picturesque village of Beddgelert...

Everyone has their favourite small locomotive, but some of ours have been hiding away this year. Therefore, we have decided to bring a couple out to play next weekend (26th/27th September). We're telling you now, because this will be a special experience for a lucky few - so you will need to be quick off the mark to book a trip to Tan-y-Bwlch behind your favourite..!

'BRITOMART' will work the 12:10 and 15:25 services on Saturday 26th September.

'LILLA' will be in charge of the 12:10 and 15:25 services on Sunday 27th September. (Latest: 'Lilla' is rostered subject to availability, if necessary 'Prince' will be used instead.)

Unsurprisingly even a chill wind cannot force any hint of exhaust from Welsh Highland Garratt No 87, taking it very easy on the daily train service from Caernarvon to Bedgellert, seen on the climb to Rhyd Ddu.
