The Greasers Report!
The good news is that last weeks article resulted in a new volunteer with the group!
The S&T Oiling Group (lubrication of all points and groundframes) ran a works train, the ‘Greasers Express’, on May 18, the first for some time. We cover both the FR and WHR though on this occasion it was FR only.

Here we are seen at the end of the day in Minffordd yard with Moelwyn and our one coach train, the ex-first class carriage 111, after a successful day between Blaenau and Porthmadog, which included recesses in both TYB sidings and RHG loop.
Actual greasing is only done two or three times a year, but lubrication, now all PTFE-based (except for the time being at Harbour station) is more frequent. On other occasions, we’ll use company road transport.
Our next visit is scheduled for July 6 and 7, and we’re always pleased to see new volunteers. If you’d like to give us a try, just contact either mbelshaw@ffwhr.com or gcole@ffwhr.com, or go through S&T Manager Tim Prent, tprent@ffwhr.com.
Many thanks Mike, for sending in the report and photograph
